EIU pushes Decision Day back after changes in student aid application

CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) — Eastern Illinois University has announced that it is pushing its Decision Day back by one month. Prospective students now have until June 1 to accept their offers of enrollment.

Josh Norman, Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management, said there were recent changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FASFA, which may cause complications in the application process. The decision to move Decision Day is the university’s approach to address these complications and minimize concerns.

“To best serve our prospective students and their families, EIU is extending its ‘Decision Day’ date from May 1 to June 1,” said Josh Norman, Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management at EIU. “This extension also applies to the eligibility date for all of EIU’s major institutional scholarship programs.”

Norman also said that while scholarships at the time of admission now feature extended deadlines, the deadlines for scholarships accessible through the university platform Academic Works may diverge. Students are advised to review individual deadlines via the Academic Works portal.

“Despite the challenging circumstances surrounding the FAFSA filing process, we have been getting glowing feedback about the support provided to students by our Office of Financial Aid,” Norman added. “The Office of Financial Aid will continue to be an excellent resource for any student or family member who is having difficulty in the process.”
