El Paso Comic Con, Rauw Alejandro, Earth Day events lead things to do in El Paso
Earth Day events abound this weekend and later in the week in El Paso, from enjoying pretty flower arrangements and learning about the environment to planting trees. The fierce Roller Derby gals return for their season opener Saturday. It's always loud and rowdy fun.
The El Paso Comic Con also returns to the El Paso convention center for three days of fun. And there are also some concerts to enjoy featuring Mexican and Puerto Rican artists as well as some local El Paso art being featured.
And then for those who believe in supporting a good cause, look to the Make a Wish Walk also taking place this weekend.

El Paso Comic Con returns
The annual popular El Paso Comic Con returns Friday through Sunday at the El Paso convention center.
Guests this year will include Michael Rooker, who often plays brutes, villains, psychopaths and Yondu in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" films; as well as World Championship Wrestler Kevin Nash appearing Saturday and Sunday.

Ha*Ash returning to El Paso
The Mexican group promoting its latest album, Haashtag, will bring its “Mi Salida Contigo Tour” to El Paso with a performance at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Abraham Chavez Theatre. Tickets, ranging from $39 to $179, plus fees, available at Ticketmaster.com.
Rauw Alejandro
Puerto Rican reggaeton singer Rauw Alejandro will bring his "Saturno World Tour 2023" to El Paso with a performance at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Don Haskins Center. Tickets, ranging from $43 to $203, plus fees, are available at Ticketmaster.com.
Roller Derby returns
The El Paso Roller Derby will kick off Saturday at Nations Tobin Park, 8831 Railroad Drive. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Events are 21 and over, Beer, no glass containers, allowed. Tickets are $12 and $10 for military with ID at the door. Kids 10 and under free with a paid adult ticket. Buy tickets in advance at www.eprollerderby.com
Gaspar Enriquez studio exhibit
Gaspar Enríquez’s Mi Casa Art Studio and Gallery, 1456 Main St. in San Elizario, is having an exhibition of works by artists Manuel Guerra, Martin “Blaster” Zubia, Francisco Delgado and Antonio Castro. The event will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Earth Day events around the city
The Downtown Art and Farmers Market will hold an Earth Day market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Arts Festival Plaza, next to the El Paso Museum of Art. The event will feature activities, community partners, and giveaways.
Cielo Vista Mall will celebrate Earth Day from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday with a “Go Green” event focused on sustainability and recycling. Visitors can learn new ways to go green in partnership with Casa Nissan and explore stations hosted by El Paso Electric, Starbucks, Harmony Public Schools, LUSH Handmade Cosmetics and El Paso Disposal. The event will take place at the mall’s lower level at the women’s Dillard’s court at 8401 Gateway Blvd. W.
The city of El Paso's Environmental Services Department has joined the El Paso Zoo and Botanical Gardens to offer a large Earth Day event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the zoo. The department will have booths and activities outside the zoo, while the Party for the Planet will be happening inside.
Eco El Paso will donate 25 trees to Ascarate Park that will be planted during the event, which also will include informational booths featuring a wide array of businesses, nonprofits, artists and food vendors. County Parks & Recreation will host various recycling activities, an Earth Day Scavenger hunt, arts and crafts, a screening of “The Lorax,” and much more at the Ascarate Park Pavilion.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a blanket and chairs to enjoy the park. Food trucks will be available from noon to 2 p.m.
Make A Wish Walk
The Make-A-Wish Walk For Wishes, presented by Marathon Petroleum, is Sunday at Ascarate Park. Registration starts at 6:30 a.m. Walk For Wishes is a community-wide celebration that raises funds to grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. During this signature event, hundreds of participants from the El Paso community will walk or run alongside the many wish kids and families who benefit directly from their support. Attendees of this year’s event can register for a 5k run or 1-mile walk at walkforwisheselpaso.org.
Party in the Park event for children of military
The Child Crisis Center of El Paso SMVF (Service Members Veterans and Families) program is presenting Party in the Park, an event that celebrates military children. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Salvador Rivas Jr. Spray Park, 12480 Pebble Hills Blvd. There will be music, multiple activities for the children/families, and booths handing out goodies throughout the event. Free beverages and snacks. Free toys will be given out for the first 200 children.
Music student showcase
El Paso Music Learning Corner will have its first live student showcase since 2019 at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday at Star City Studio, 120 W Castellano Drive.
Enjoy flower show
El Dedon Verde Garden Club will have its annual flower show April 25 at El Paso Country Club. This year's theme is "Flower Power" with some cool, 1970s vibes in the categories. Viewing of entries is from 2 to 4 p.m. Awards ceremony is at 3:30 p.m. Free admission for members, $10 for the general public.
Country singer Chris Stapleton coming
Grammy Award winner and country singer Chris Stapleton will bring his "All American Road Show" to UTEP's Don Haskins Center, performing at 7 p.m. April 26. Tickets, ranging from $139 to $488, plus fees, are on sale at Ticketmaster.com.
Geena Davis coming to El Paso
Activist and actress Geena Davis will be the keynote speaker of the 28th Annual Women’s Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. April 27 at the El Paso convention center.
