El Paso County Sheriff's Office investigates after body found in Anthony, Texas, desert

The body of a man with several gunshot wounds was found Thursday in the desert in Anthony, Texas, officials said.

Anthony Police Department officers were flagged down by a community member at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday at a Burger King located at 2125 Antonio St., El Paso County Sheriff's Office officials said.

The resident told officers of the body in the desert near the 3000 block of Mountain Pass Boulevard near the Texas-New Mexico border, officials said.

Officers found the body of a man believed to be between the ages of 20 to 30 years old. The man had "several apparent gunshot wounds," officials said.

The Anthony Police Department requested the assistance of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office's Criminal Investigations Division. The death is being investigated as a homicide, officials said.

No other information has been released.
