Scholarship website ranks El Paso, Las Cruces among best cities in US to raise family

A new study reveals what El Pasoans already knew ‒ the Sun City is a great place to raise a family. And so is our neighboring city of Las Cruces.

El Paso was ranked 15th best city due to its excellent safety scores, being the second best in this category, according to the study. In 2019, El Paso was recognized as one of the top 10 safest cities.

Las Cruces was ranked higher than El Paso, coming in at No. 11 on the list. It scored highest in the quality of life category, ranking No. 3, and No. 5 for home atmosphere.

Scholaroo, a scholarship website, analyzed 152 cities, examining 32 metrics that take the following into account: safety, health, finances, education, leisure, quality of life and home atmosphere. The rankings were based on data from public sources.

The top two cities were Warwick, Rhode Island, and Charleston, West Virginia. Warwick also came in first for safety.

On the other categories, El Paso was ranked at No. 18 for health care, No. 20 for finances, No. 22 for home atmosphere, and No. 53 for quality of life. The lower scores were No. 117 for leisure and No. 149 for education.

Las Cruces was ranked No. 11 for safety, No. 44 for health care and finances, No. 36 for leisure and No. 84 for education.
