El Paso police auto theft investigators arrested a man Tuesday afternoon after a foot chase at a Northeast apartment complex.

Gael Gutierrez, 29, is accused of using a vehicle without permission and assaulting a woman, police said.

About 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Auto Theft Task Force found the vehicle parked at an apartment complex in the 4000 block of Sean Haggerty Drive.

Investigators called the vehicle's owner, who told them that her daughter lives at the apartments and was recently assaulted by Gutierrez. The woman feared for her daughter’s safety, a police news release stated.
