Rep. Elaine Luria and state Sen. Jen Kiggans will face off in their final debate at 7 p.m. tonight.

Luria, a Democrat, and Kiggans, a Republican, are competing to represent Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House.

The debate will be broadcast live from News 3 studios and will air on WTKR-TV and WGNT-TV. It will also be streamed online. News 3 anchor Barbara Ciara will serve as the moderator.

The race has garnered national attention; it’s expected to be among several tight contests that likely will determine which party controls the House of Representatives.

A recent poll by Christopher Newport University’s Wason Center for Civic Leadership found that the candidates are in a dead heat.

During their first debate earlier this month in Virginia Beach, the candidates argued over abortion, border security and election deniers.

Kiggans was elected to the General Assembly in 2019. She is a geriatric nurse practitioner and a former Navy helicopter pilot.

Luria was first elected to Congress in 2018. She is a retired Naval commander who served on six ships as a nuclear-trained surface warfare officer.
