Elderly man dies in North County rollover crash

BONSALL, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — An 86-year-old driver, of Fallbrook, died in a rollover crash Wednesday in the Bonsall area, authorities said.

The two-vehicle collision occurred around 7:40 a.m. on the Interstate 15 southbound off-ramp to Old Highway 396, Officer Hunter Gerber with the California Highway Patrol said in a news release Thursday.

An 18-year-old woman driving a black Jaguar XF on the off-ramp of I-15 southbound to Old Highway 396 stopped and pulled into the intersection of Old Highway 395 when she collided into a maroon Toyota Venza, driven by the 86-year-old man, according to authorities.

When first responders arrived on scene, the man was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries. The woman, of Wildomar, California, was not injured.

Authorities do not believe driving under the influence was a factor in the crash.

The victim’s identity has not been released at this time.
