Election 2020: Southeast, Brewster Voter Guide
BREWSTER, NY — Voters in Southeast and Brewster will head to the polls by Tuesday, Nov. 3, for the 2020 general election.
In addition to the presidential and congressional races, there are several key races at the state and local level. Voting will be different this year thanks to rules approved to expand early and mail-in voting in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 24. You can check your voting status on the Secretary of State's website, where you can also find your polling place.
There are several ways residents can vote:
Mail-In Voting
You may return the ballot in any of the following ways:
Put it in the mail ensuring it receives a postmark no later than Nov. 3.
Bring it to the Putnam County Board of Elections Office no later than Nov. 3. Absentee Ballots can be dropped off at the Putnam County Board of Elections at a drop box outside the office or brought into the office and received by a Staff Member during normal business hours.
Bring it to an early voting poll site between Oct. 24 and Nov. 1.
Bring it to a poll site by 9 p.m. Nov. 3. Putnam County will have a Coordinator at the front entrance of every polling site to assist voters with the drop off of Absentee Ballots, the ballots will be placed in a locked Ballot Bag marked Absentee Ballots. At the end of the day the bag will be returned to the Board of Elections.

Early Voting
Early voting starts on Oct. 24 and runs until Nov. 1 at the Putnam County Board of Elections, 25 Old Route 6, Carmel, NY.
Voting on Election Day
Polls in New York are open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Election Day. Find your polling place using the New York State Board of Elections poll site search.
Here are changes in Putnam County:
If your polling place WAS located at the Kent Elementary School, it is NOW located at the Lakeview Community Church, 387 Route 52, Carmel, NY 10512.
If your polling place WAS located at Sacred Heart Church, it is NOW located at the Putnam Lake VFW, 4 Fairfield Dr., Patterson, NY 12563.
PLEASE NOTE, FOR THIS ELECTION ONLY! If your polling place WAS located at the Village of Brewster Offices/Court, it is NOW located at 25 Marvin Avenue, Brewster, NY 10509.
