Nov. 9—Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan has earned a third term.

Voters in the 6th Congressional District have chosen the Democratic incumbent over Republican challenger Guy Ciarrocchi. The district includes all of Chester County and parts of Berks County.

According to incomplete and unofficial vote totals, Houlahan received 155,550 votes and Ciarrocchi followed with 128,615 votes. While these vote totals may not include all mail and provisional ballots, The Associated Press has called the race for the incumbent.

Houlahan was first elected to serve in Congress in 2018. She previously served as an Air Force officer, was a businesswoman and engineer, had taught chemistry with Teach For America and served as an executive for a nonprofit literacy organization.

The preliminary results show that Houlahan performed better than her competitor in Berks and Chester counties.

In Berks, Houlahan received 37,484 votes and Ciarrocchi received 29,943 votes.

In Chester, Houlahan received 118,066 votes and Ciarrocchi received 98,672 votes.

The election is official when the results are certified.

Ciarrocchi had previously served as president and CEO of the Chester County Chamber of Commerce. He has also served as a top official in former Gov. Tom Corbett's administration, as the director of public affairs for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and as a township supervisor.
