ELECTION 2022: Incumbents fare well in Berea City Council race

All but one incumbent on the Berea City Council retained their seats Tuesday night, according to unofficial election results in Madison County.

Incumbents Steve Caudill, Jim Davis, Jerry Little, Teresa Scenters, Katie Startzman, Ronnie Terrill, and Cora Jane Wilson were reelected to serve another term on the council.

The current slate of city councilmembers will be joined by David Rowlette who outpaced incumbent John Payne to earn a spot on the city council.

Rowlette served on the Berea City Council previously from 2018 to 2020. On Tuesday night, Rowlette garnered 2,134 votes compared to Payne's 1,983.

Caudill received the most votes of any candidate with 2,718. He was followed by Startzman who received the second highest number of votes with 2,260. Wilson netted a total of 2,244 votes, while Scenters had 2,186. Davis had 2,131, Little had 2,083 and Terrill had 2,010.

Newcomers Rebecca McClure Isaacs received 1,844 votes, while Teresa Wren netted a total of 1,475 votes. Both failed to receive enough votes to earn a spot on the council.
