  • What qualifies you to hold this position? I currently serve in the role using my qualifying strengths of advocacy, vision, strategy and communication.

  • What would your top priorities be if elected? I ran two years ago on a platform of participation, preservation and possibilities — those are the same things that motivate me today.

  • What do you think is the primary role of government? One of the biggest roles of governance is that of stewardship. Care for the budget, staff, and community, but also of the resources the city holds. Whether lands, historic assets, and the stories of the past that inform our future. Understanding that the role is temporary and to make the best use of your skills with the time you are given.

Charlie Anderson

  • Age: 41

  • What qualifies you to hold this position? What qualifies me is that I am a citizen of the United States of America. I have a duty to society and my fellow man to participate in our representative democracy. As for my background, I am a husband and father, combat veteran, police commander, and I hold a master’s degree in public safety administration. I am a proven leader seeking my second term on council.

  • What would your top priorities be if elected? Listen, think, partner and act. Provide oversight to prospective cell tower build and ISP expansion, fire and rescue viability, strengthen Marine Village School, plan roads and infrastructure improvements, cemetery expansion, land and water conservation, stewardship of taxpayer dollars, and common sense implementation of comprehensive plan.

  • What do you think is the primary role of government? It is the role of the state to defend and prudently promote the common good of civil society. The common good consists of three key elements: Respect for the human person and family, prioritization of collective social wellbeing and development, and the pursuit of peace. This also includes the concepts of subsidiarity and solidarity.

Dana Anderson

  • Age: 58

  • What qualifies you to hold this position? I grew up in Marine, and my family has owned a home here for over 45 years. I raised my children here, and am an active member of the community. In my professional career, I have extensive skills/experience as a leader, business owner, and advisor. By applying those skills as a councilperson, I can bring significant value to our community.

  • What would your top priorities be if elected? 1) Addressing speed and noise in town, on highway, and on the river. 2) Improving parking, parks/trails, and river access. 3) Strongly supporting local schools, public safety, and local businesses. 4) Ensuring environmental and historic preservation. 5) Fostering community involvement, events and volunteerism.

  • What do you think is the primary role of government? The primary role of government is to serve the community at large, both individually and collectively. The goal of local government is primarily to maintain, grow and improve local infrastructure and community services, as well as facilitate the community’s planning efforts, shaping community growth and determining land use.

Bill Miller

  • Age: 59

  • What qualifies you to hold this position? Thirty-plus year resident of Marine on St Croix; strong community volunteer, served as a councilmember for 18 years; Fire and Rescue squad member for 22 years, achieving the rank of Assistant Chief; multiple community committees, including three comprehensive plan updates; career officer in the financial industry.

  • What would your top priorities be if elected? Public safety, fiscal responsibility, communication, protection of our valuable local resources, and the health and well-being of our entire community. Long and short term planning on projects, spending and policy to bring new young families to our community.

  • What do you think is the primary role of government? Leadership, Listening, Communication, Planning, and to be sure that overall spending, improvements, expansions and modifications serve the ‘greater good’ of the entire community.
