Election 2022: Stephenville stadium bond passes; Taylor County liquor option sails
Taylor County voters in Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3, which is in the southern part of the county, by a 3-to-1 margin – decided Tuesday to legalize the sale of alcoholic beverages.
This vote specifically affects Bowie’s Travel Center, which is being built near the split of U.S. Highways 83/84.
The business will be northeast of Tuscola.
Two cities within the precinct already are “wet” – the city of Buffalo Gap, the result of a 2013 election, and the city of Tuscola, which held a local option election in May 2019. The results of Tuesday’s election will not supersede the existing status in those cities.
Elsewhere in the Big Country, Stephenville Independent School District voters approved construction of a $40 million football/soccer stadium for Yellowjacket and Lady Yellowjacket athletes.
However, voters in Blackwell's school district, which takes in both Nolan and Taylor counties, defeated three of four propositions in a bond election.
In Hawley, voters approved two propositions for sales and use tax, including one to provide revenue for maintenance and repair of municipal streets.
And in Scurry County, city voters in Snyder approved two propositions related to the Development Corporation of Snyder, authorizing sales and use tax for various purposes.
In results below, * indicates a winner.
