Election 2023: What to know about voting in Broome, Tioga, Delaware and Chenango counties
Residents across the Southern Tier and elsewhere will go to the polls in November to decide key local election races.
Some of the top local offices up for election this year included district attorney, town supervisor and city council seats.Here's what Southern Tier residents need to know before voting this fall.
When is the 2023 election?
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 7. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. that day.
Early voting will take place between Oct. 28 and Nov. 5 at various polling locations.

How do I vote by absentee ballot?
Anyone who will be absent from their county on Election Day, or is unable to appear at the polls due to temporary or permanent illness or disability, or due to other legitimate reasons, can vote by absentee ballot.
Applications for absentee ballots must be received by the county boards of elections by Monday, Oct. 23.

Who is on the ballot?
Voters in Broome County will decide several races including district attorney and various city, town and village races.
There is one contested council race in Tioga County.
In Delaware and Chenango counties, voters will decide various town races.
