Election Day 2021: Final results are in for Portage County
Final but unofficial results are in from the Portage County Board of Elections.
Voters considered leaders for every city, township, village and board of education in the county, as well as a variety of tax issues, only four of which sought new money.
Faith Lyon, director of the Board of Elections, said during the day Tuesday that voting was going well, although the turnout was light. Last week, Deputy Director Theresa Nielsen estimated that there would be 25% to 30% voter turnout, and Lyon said she thinks that will be accurate.
"We would love to have 70 to 80 percent voter turnout in every election, but obviously, that's not always what happens," she said. "It's a quiet local election."
About 400 voters still hadn't turned in their absentee ballots, she said. Those voters still could have put them in the drop box at the Portage County Administration building's parking lot in Ravenna, or they could vote a provisional ballot at their polling place.
