Election Day in Ohio: Everything you need to know as you vote in 2022 midterm elections

Election Day in Ohio is finally upon us. Ohio voters will select a governor, a new U.S. Senator, three seats for the state supreme court and more this election cycle.

A lot of national attention has been drawn specifically to Ohio's U.S. Senate race: the winner of the race between Democrat Tim Ryan and Republican J.D. Vance will replace retiring GOP Sen. Rob Portman and could help determine which party controls the U.S. Senate.

In Akron, two women are vying for Ohio’s reconfigured 13th U.S. Congressional District. Both are millennials who grew up in Northeast Ohio – Emilia Sykes, a Democrat, in Akron and Madison Gesiotto Gilbert, a Republican, in Massillon. The candidates disagree on everything from abortion to who won the 2020 presidential election.

Republicans want to reclaim a House district in northeastern Summit County. They're hoping Beth Bigham can defeat incumbent Democrat Casey Weinstein in the 34th District. There's also political intrigue in the race for the 27th District in the Ohio Senate with Republican incumbent Kristina Roegner opposed by Dr. Patricia Goetz, a Democrat.

And Akron voters will decide the fate of Issue 10, a charter amendment that would create a police oversight board, effectively replacing the one Mayor Dan Horrigan and City Council are forming now.
