Election year is near. Here are the dates to remember for Delaware's 2024 elections
Elections are right around the corner, with the state and general election occurring for Delawareans in 2024.
During an election year, it is important to keep track of dates, whether that be voter registration deadlines, voting days and more.
Here are a few dates to keep on the calendar this upcoming election year.
2024 election dates in Delaware
April 2: Presidential primary election
May 14: School board elections
Sept. 10: State primary election

Delaware 2024 presidential primary election dates
Those who win the primary will be able to have their name on the ballot in November during the general election. The election calendar for 2024 can be viewed here.
Feb. 2: Deadline to change political party affiliation before the presidential primary election
March 9: Deadline to register to vote before the presidential primary election
March 18: Deadline for uniformed service members and citizens living outside of the U.S. to register to vote before the presidential primary election
March 20: Early voting period for the presidential primary election begins. Voting locations can be found at: elections.delaware.gov.
March 30: Early voting period for the presidential primary election ends
April 2: Presidential primary election; deadline for voters to return absentee ballots
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the presidential primary election.
April 5: Department of Elections certifies the results of the April 2 presidential primary election in the county office of each respective county
Delaware 2024 school board election dates
May 14: School board elections; deadline for voters to return their absentee ballots to the Department of Elections office holding the election
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the school board elections.
May 16 (tentative, but no later than May 29): School board election results certified by each of the Department of Elections county offices holding elections

Aug. 17: Deadline to register to vote before the 2024 state primary election
Aug. 26: Deadline for uniformed service members and citizens living outside of the U.S. to register to vote for the 2024 state primary election
Aug. 28: Early voting period begins for the 2024 state primary election
Sept. 8: Early voting period ends for the 2024 state primary election
Sept. 10: State primary election; deadline for voters to return absentee ballots to the Department of Elections county office for the residing voter
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the state primary election.
Sept. 13: Department of Elections certifies the results of the 2024 state primary election
Delaware 2024 general election dates
Oct. 12: Deadline for unregistered residents to register to vote in the general election
Oct. 21: Deadline for unregistered uniform service members and citizens outside of the U.S. to register to vote in the general election
Oct. 25: Early voting period begins for the 2024 general election
Nov. 3: Early voting period ends for the 2024 general election
Nov. 5: Election Day begins; deadline for voters to return absentee ballots filled out to the voter's county Elections Office
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day.
Nov. 7: Board of Canvass meets to certify each county's results in the 2024 general election
