The five-member Palm Springs Unified Board of Trustees had three seats up for grabs this November, but only one race was contested.

Kaden Cross was challenging incumbent John Gerardi, who was seeking his third term to represent Desert Hot Springs for Trustee Area 5.

Returns as of Thursday morning showed Gerardi leading Cross with 1,215 votes (53.9%) to 1,040 votes (46.1%).

Gerardi, a licensed CPA, is the current board president. He previously served on the Desert Hot Springs Planning Commission for 10 years, five years as chairman.

Cross recently graduated from Desert Hot Springs High School. He says as a recent graduate he understands issues in local schools, and he feels his voice has been unheard at school board meetings.

In Trustee Area 3, Karen Cornett ran unopposed for her fourth term on the PSUSD Board.

In Trustee Area 4, Charlie Ervin, a City of Palm Springs Planning Commissioner, ran unopposed to replace Timothy Wood.
