It's only been a few weeks since the fall elections wrapped up, but local aspiring candidates already need to be looking ahead to the April 2023 election.

The upcoming spring elections will feature a number of races on local councils and school boards, as well as circuit court judges.

Candidate nomination packages became available on Dec. 1. Potential candidates have until 5 p.m. Jan 3 to complete and turn in the necessary paperwork. Those who are looking to become a candidate in the spring elections can find the paperwork at their local clerk's office or school district office.

The spring election is set to take place April 4. If any race garners more than two candidates, a primary election will be held on Feb. 21.
