Electric bike rider from Little Egg Harbor dies in collision on Route 37 in Toms River

TOMS RIVER −A 33-year-old Little Egg Harbor man died from the injuries he suffered when the electric bike he was driving veered into traffic on Route 37 in Toms River, police said.

The fatal collision occurred at 8 a.m. at the highway’s intersection with River Drive.

The Little Egg Harbor man was traveling in the westbound shoulder on Route 37 west when the e-bike made a sudden left turn into the travel lanes, police said.

He was hit by a vehicle in the center lane, police said.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

The Little Egg Harbor man was taken to Community Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police have not released his identity.
