Electric company celebrates its 25th anniversary

Aug. 10—It was a busy work day for a local business, but it didn't stop them from celebrating their 25-year legacy.

The City Electric Supply store, better known as CES, in Sanford celebrated its branch anniversary yesterday, thanking their customers and the community for their support. The store has always had its roots in the city and has been at 300 Wilson Rd for the past 10 years.

City Electric Supply started in 1983 and has over 500 locations in the United States. The wholesale electrical business provides products for residential, commercial and industrial projects.

In celebration of their anniversary there were many vendors inside and outside of the business selling construction-related projects from power tools to residential generators along with a 5% discount on purchases. There was also a raffle, with the grand prize being a pellet grill with smart technology.

Free barbecue from Redneck BBQ lab food truck filled the stomachs of hungry customers, employees and anyone passing by who was hungry.

Jeremy Shindledecker, branch manager of the Sanford location and others, said he is glad to be part of a company with a longstanding tradition.

"The growth of the business in this area (Sanford) has been growing so much," he said. "It's been a blessing."

Blake Aultman, who has been with CES for two years and enjoys working there.

"The company takes care of you and doesn't leave you high and dry," he said. "We (employees) communicate like a team and that makes the job easier."

Robert Shook, a maintenance mechanic, heard about the free food and decided to stop by as well as check out one of his favorite stores.

"I like them," he said about the CES store. "They (employees) work hard for me. If I need something and they don't have it they point me in the direction I need to go to get it."

Todd Thomas, head electrician at COTY Inc., said CES is always his first choice when he needs something for the work he does.

"I try to go with these guys because they are local," he said. "They take care of us."

Tommy Battiato, who has been with CES for two years, believes relationship building has been the key to the business' success. He was doing just that with Thomas that day.

"Every day here is like family," he said.
