Arizona Public Service and the city of Phoenix are bringing back the APS Electric Light Parade this year after the 30-year-old event took a hiatus in 2020.
On Saturday, Dec. 4, floats, decorated vehicles and performers will spread twinkle-light-filled holiday cheer through midtown Phoenix. Participants will share their interpretations of the 2021 theme, "Peace on Earth."
The 2.3-mile parade route starts at Central and Montebello avenues, travels south to Central Avenue and Camelback Road, turns east toward Seventh Street and heads south, ending at Indian School Road. The parade begins at 7 p.m., and it takes approximately an hour for floats to travel to the end point.
Unlike in previous years, there will be no pre-parade viewing event the night before the event as a COVID-19 mitigation strategy.
