Elie Saab Designed the Most Beautiful Wedding Dress for His Daughter-in-Law

Elie Saab is renowned globally for his couture gowns. His designs have graced many a red carpet, but it's his incredible bridal work that has ended up on thousands of wedding inspiration boards. And he might just have introduced his most personal wedding dress yet.

Over the weekend the designer's son Elie Saab Jr. married Christina Mourad in a lavish Lebanese ceremony. The celebrations took place over three days. And the bride wore not one but two incredible custom wedding dresses by her now father-in-law.

According to Brides, the couple got engaged after just three months of dating, but planning the wedding and creating the dresses would take a bit longer. "Elie [the son] wanted to get married last year just after the proposal," Mourad said. "It was too short in terms of organization; even to create my gown!"

Brides also reveals that Saab and his team spent 450 hours doing the dresses' embroidery, 150 hours with draping, and 200 hours of tailoring.

All that hard work led to a sleeveless tulle creation that had more than 500,000 sequins and a 14-foot train for the ceremony.

The second gown, which Mourad wore to the reception, was a corseted ball gown with another 650,000 sequins and 150,000 Swarovski crystals. "I felt at ease and could not get in better hands," Mourad said. "We only had a few fittings. He understood my personality and created two gowns unique that suit perfectly who I am."

That is some serious fairy-tale confection, if you ask us. And people on social media have been equally effusive.

The design house posted some images of the couple on Instagram. "In a touching ceremony filled with moments of anticipation and joy, @eliesjr & @kikamourad celebrated their nuptials yesterday at the patriarchate of Bkerke in Lebanon surrounded by family and friends," the caption read. "Wishing the couple eternal happiness and everlasting love in their future together #ElieKika"

"I met my father-in-law, Elie Saab, 10 years ago and told him on that day that I would like him to realize my wedding gown," Mourad told Brides. "Ten years after, my dream came true."
