Elite Season 2 Is Officially Happening: 5 Questions We Need Answered by the Netflix Thriller

So you’ve finished bingeing Netflix’s Elite and you're screaming your head off about that finale. You’re not alone. We finally got to see who really killed Marina, and it was not who we were expecting. Thankfully, Netflix announced on Wednesday morning, October 17, that Elite season two is officially happening. The Elite Instagram account shared an adorable video revealing the news about the second season, which features various cast members breaking the story. (Spoilers ahead, so read on only if you’re done with Elite's first season.)

"Yes, one thing keeps coming up. ALL. THE. TIME. For instance, here we have Mercedes, 'I WANT SEASON 2, I CAN'T LIVE,' Literally," says Elite star Danna Paola in Spanish. "You thought you'd get rid of us so easily?" Then the rest of the cast chimes in to make it official that fans will be getting another season of the prep-school thriller.

The drama is far from over. Given that police have arrested the wrong suspect, we can say that the real conflict is just getting started. Episode 8 may have given us the biggest reveal of all, but there are still plenty of unanswered questions left. Hopefully, we'll see Samuel fight to prove his brother’s innocence, while Carla and Polo try to bury their own guilt. And, as the horrific crime committed at Las Encinas continues to unravel, here are five things we need the second season to explain.

Will Ander’s mother apologize for outing Omar?

You already know we ship Omander more than anybody else on this show (yeah, I said it), but Ander’s mom crossed a serious line when she accidentally outed Omar to his father — and to everybody else who heard her shout it down the school hallway. We can assume that she didn’t mean to out him, since she was trying to defend Omar from his father’s wrath, but disclosing somebody else’s sexuality without their consent is never OK. Whether or not she had good intentions, she should’ve known that that information was for Omar and only Omar to share. Though Omar later denied it to his father, and his father told him he needed to apologize to Ander’s mom for giving her the wrong idea, we all know Omar is the one who truly deserves an apology. Hopefully, we’ll see some sort of reconciliation between the two during the second season.

Will Nadia’s father let her return to Las Encinas?

Nadia spent most of the first season trying to appease her father and his strict rules, at the expense of her own happiness, which she later revealed was partly because of the pain left in their family after her older sister’s disappearance. But in the season finale, she finally decides to stop putting her family’s wishes over her own and stands up to her father, telling him she doesn’t want to go back to Las Encinas for the next school year unless she gets to do it on her own terms. Will her father agree to let her take control over both her academic and social life? And if so, what will that mean for her relationship with Guzman, who reignited things with Lu in his grief over Marina?

Why did Nano leave Marina at the pool?

We are still wiping our tears over Marina’s last moments, especially when Nano storms inside and runs to her side. He cries as he holds her and tries to talk to her— though we can’t hear what he’s saying, since the dialogue is purposely silenced — but Samuel still sees Nano flee the scene and leave Marina in a pool of her own blood. It’s the fact that he runs away that makes his brother accuse him of the murder in the first place. So why did Nano leave? Why didn’t he stay by her side or try to carry her out and look for help? It might not have saved Marina’s life, but it would’ve ultimately helped to prove his innocence.

Who called the police?

After Nano runs away, Samuel is the last person left with Marina. He’s still by the pool and covered in blood when the police show up, but who called them in the first place? This might seem like an insignificant detail, but could come back to make a big difference in the case for Nano’s innocence (or Polo’s guilt). Was it Samuel as he watched Marina breathe her last breaths? Was it Nano, who maybe went to look for help after he saw Marina bleeding out? Or, most shocking of all, could it have been one of the three people who know what really happened: Polo, Carla, or Christian?

Who will Christian choose to protect?

Speaking of Christian, Las Encinas’s new class clown may have escaped most of the first season without letting any of the drama affect him—but he was ultimately left with the toughest choice of all. Carla tells Christian that to finally become one of “them,” he has to fall in line and protect Polo above everything else...but is he willing to do it at the expense of his BFF Nano? As he walks away from Samuel in the last scene, it seems that maybe he’ll choose his newfound popularity with the rich kids over his own true friends. But if Christian is the sweetheart we think he is, things may take an interesting turn for him in Season 2.

There’s clearly so much that the second season of Elite will need to answer. So while we wait for more info about what’s to come for our beloved Las Encinas prep schoolers, we’ll be busy watching the first season over again.
