Elk Grove Unified School District seniors can earn scholarships up to $15,000. Here’s how

The Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation is awarding academic grants and scholarships to high school seniors within Elk Grove Unified School District who plan to attend a two- or four-year college or vocational school.

There are more than 150 different scholarships that eligible students can apply for. Selected applicants will receive scholarship money that can range from $1,000 to $15,000.

Each scholarship has a different criteria to be met to be considered eligible for financial assistance. Students must complete all scholarship applications online.

The 2024 Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation application period is open until Jan. 26. The selected recipients will be notified in late March.

Seniors who attend the following high schools are eligible for scholarships: Elk Grove, Cosumnes Oaks, Florin, Franklin, Laguna Creek, Monterey Trail, Pleasant Grove, Sheldon, Valley, Calvine, Las Flores, Rio Cazadero, William Daylor and Elk Grove Charter School.

Some of the minimum requirements are to hold an academic grade point average of at least 2.0, depending on the scholarship. Applicants should only apply for scholarships for which they are eligible.

Scholarships are available for students who intend to pursue various career paths including agriculture, nursing, education, auto mechanics, politics and arts.

Last year, Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation awarded 192 scholarships totaling more than $30,000 to Elk Grove area students.

The Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation mission, according to its website, is to facilitate the development of educational opportunities and programs through scholarships and grants; and to coordinate contributions to meet community needs.

According to the Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation, the scholarship criteria are determined by the individual or group that established the funds.

Applications must be completely filled out to be considered. Any additional requested information must be attached to each application.

Students should expect each application to take approximately one hour to complete.
