Elkhart Civic Theatre postpones the opening of 'Arsenic and Old Lace' until May 20

BRISTOL — The opening for “Arsenic and Old Lace” at Elkhart Civic Theatre’s Bristol Opera House, 210 E. Vistula St., has been delayed until May 20. It had been scheduled to open for the weekend of May 13-15.
Other details have not yet been disclosed.
Staged all in black-and-white by director Dave Dufour, the 1941 dark comedy by Joseph Kesselring concerns the elderly Brewster sisters, whose “charity” consists of putting older gentlemen out of their misery with poisoned elderberry wine.
They’re found out by their favorite nephew, Mortimer, who is aghast at the situation but still wants to protect his favorite aunts. Add to the mix Mortimer’s brother, Teddy, who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, and his other brother, the homicidal Jonathan.
In 1944, Frank Capra directed a film adaptation starring Cary Grant.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. May 20-22.
