Elkhart man dies in Friday LaGrange County pursuit, wreck
Oct. 30—LAGRANGE — An Elkhart man is dead following a two-vehicle crash and police pursuit which ended in LaGrange County Friday.
Anthony Wayne Grant, 30, was driving a 2017 Chevy Cruze which drove southbound through a stop sign intersection at C.R. 1100 East and Ind. 120 during a pursuit which started in Branch County, according to a Monday LaGrange County Sheriff's Department news release.
At 4:28 p.m. Grant's vehicle was broadsided by a 2000 Freightliner Sterling driven by Alex Michael Czerkies, 32, Riverdale, Michigan, which was traveling eastbound on Ind. 120. Czerkies's and Grant's vehicle both left the roadway to the south, and Grant died from his injuries. Czerkies was not injured in the crash.
The crash reconstruction report will be completed by Indiana State Police, which along with LaGrange Police Department, the Branch County Sheriff's Office and the Orland Fire Department responded to the incident, the release added.
