Elleda Wilson: Angels at Camp 18

Dec. 29—"Rave!" Brittney Hernandez of Hammond posted Dec. 23 on Facebook — after the recent ice storm — about Camp 18 Restaurant in Seaside, owned and operated by Gordon and Roberta Smith. "Last night roads were closed, and we were on our way home from the airport. Camp 18 owners opened their museum up to travelers, and they had their heaters on for us.

"As we were waiting, the owners were taking such great care of everyone. They offered water, heat, chairs, coffee and so much more! They went above and beyond for everyone and their families. (One of the owners) even asked me if I needed to warm up the water for my son, when he saw me trying to make a bottle for him.

"I can't even express what it meant to me and my family. We were traveling with 4-year-old Blaike and 7-week-old Bear, and it was so scary and super stressful, but thanks to them we calmed down and were able to get warm.

"Thank you once again, Camp 18, you guys are angels!" (Photos: Brittney Hernandez/Camp 18 Restaurant)
