Elleda Wilson: For Anthony

Oct. 27—Tony Alfaro has created and built complex Halloween costumes for his wheelchair-bound son for several years now, 13-year-old Anthony Alfaro, who has cerebral palsy, Local12.com reports. The family lives in Melrose Park, Illinois, where their community is stunned and amazed each year by Tony's latest creation.

To name just a few, Anthony has dressed as Cameron from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," the character Beetlejuice, Blue Man Group and the fortune teller, Zoltar, from "Big." This year's tour de force costume, the bone organ from the movie "The Goonies," is so elaborate its even attracting national attention. The bones are made of bamboo, and plastic skeleton fingers comprise the organ's keys.

"Excitement! This is what we do it for," the boy's mother, Deanna, explained. "All this excitement with the kids and everything is what we do it for. And for Anthony, because look at how happy he is." True enough, as most of the photos show him wearing a huge grin.

"He's the one that, every time I see him smile," his father said. "It's like I've got to do it again." (Photo: Screenshot, WLS/CNN Newsource)
