Update, 8/20:

Pop star Pink is joining celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres and Elton John in defending the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from "bullying" by the press and the public. The singer and mother of two tweeted, "I’m happy to see people coming to the defense of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The way people treat her is the most public form of bullying I have seen in a while. It’s out of control. Let’s all be a bit kinder, huh? Let’s show our children that it’s cool to be kind."

Original story, 8/19:

Ellen DeGeneres and polo player Nacho Figueras, one of Prince Harry's good friends, are defending the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after they've received backlash for using private jets for their recent trips to Ibiza, Spain and Nice, France. Critics say the mode of transportation contradicts the royal couple's efforts to combat climate change, even though the duke and duchess's flight was reportedly "carbon neutral." That means the carbon emissions were offset by supporting carbon reduction programs around the world.

Sustainability details aside, DeGeneres took to Twitter to explain that she and her wife, Portia de Rossi, are personally familiar with Harry and Meghan's wildlife conservation work. "They were the most down-to-earth, compassionate people," the talk show host tweeted. "Imagine being attacked for everything you do, when all you’re trying to do is make the world better."

Similarly, Figueras called out the press for "attacking" the Sussexes and "trying to find problems where there are not." He called the first-time parents "inspiring" and "the most humble and kind people that I know." The polo star made his remarks in a comment on Elton John's Instagram after the singer also defended the royal couple amidst public uproar.

"I also have the privilege of spending time with this [sic] 2 great human beings. I say privilege not only because of their status but because of the kind of people they are. They are the most humble and kind people that I know. And who they are should allow them to be even more inspiring to all of us. Instead the press focuses on attacking them and trying to find problems where there are not. I will defend them and what they do and who they are for as long as I live. They are a treasure in today's society and we should be taking care of them and feeling inspired by them. I know I do. H & M, We have your back, please be patient and do not change a thing."

Elton John first came to the couple's defense earlier today, shutting down the "distorted and malicious" coverage of Harry, Meghan, and Archie's trip to his home in Nice. He explained that as a close friend of Harry's mom, Princess Diana, he feels "a profound sense of obligation to protect Harry and his family from the unnecessary press intrusion that contributed to Diana’s untimely death." Therefore, John and husband David Furnish offered the Sussexes to enjoy a "private holiday inside the safety and tranquility" of their French residence.

The couple also provided Harry, Meghan, and Archie with a private jet flight "to maintain a high level of much-needed protection," John explained. Silencing critics, the singer revealed that he ensured the flight was carbon neutral "by making the appropriate contribution to Carbon Footprint™."
