Ellendale stays at No. 5 in poll, Oakes girls fall four spots
Jan. 23—JAMESTOWN — The top 10 of the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters Sportswriters Association's weekly Class B basketball rankings are out and the top 5 of the boys' poll is the same while the top 3 of the girls' poll is the same.
The top 5 of the boys' poll sees Four Winds-Minnewaukan continue to be the unanimous selection for No. 1 in the state after a 2-0 week pushed their record to 9-0. Behind the Braves are No. 2 Central Cass, No. 3 Bishop Ryan, No. 4 Sargent County and No. 5 Ellendale.
The Cardinals had a 3-0 week to move to 12-0 on the season. The Cardinals are the only local team in the boys' poll and will be back in action at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, when they face Barnes County North.
The biggest jump in the boys' poll sees No. 6 Thompson, No. 7 Beulah and No. 8 North Border each jump one spot this week. The biggest fall sees Grafton fall from No. 6 to No. 9 after a 1-1 week.
The top 3 of the girls' poll sees No. 1 Rugby stay atop with a 13-0 record, followed by No. 2 Thompson and No. 3 Kenmare-Bowbells. The largest jump in the poll sees Central McLean go 3-0 with their week starting off with a win over previously No. 4 Shiloh Christian, jumping from No. 9 to No. 4. The biggest fall belongs to the Oakes Tornadoes, which drop from No. 5 to No. 9 after a 2-1 week.
The Carrington Cardinals inch closer to reentering the polls as they received votes and currently sit at 11-3.
