EllingtondentistWarren Zahner, 72, remembered for life of service

Jul. 6—Warren Zahner worked as an associate dentist in Vernon and Stafford after graduating from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 1976 and completing a residency at the Hartford Hospital Dental Clinic in 1977.

Zahner's family said he was beloved by his staff and patients and, walking "lightly through life and treasured relationships as his greatest possessions."

His family said he lived a life of service to those in need both far and near and loved his community of faith, the Apostolic Christian Church of Ellington, which he served in its leadership for 25 years.

Zahner also volunteered in many capacities as a dentist locally and abroad, and in retirement as coordinator for the Midwest Food Bank.

After his retirement, Zahner remained active in his church community and enjoyed gardening, traveling with his wife of 49 years, Bonnie, and spending time with his four children and 14 grandchildren.

His funeral was held Thursday at the Apostolic Christian Church at 834 Middle Butcher Road. Burial followed in Ellington Center Cemetery.
