The actor, producer, and activist has announced a new memoir, Pageboy, which is set to be released next summer.

“Writing a book has come up a few times over the years, but it never felt right and quite frankly, it didn’t feel possible,” Page wrote on Instagram in a post revealing the cover. “I could barely sit still, let alone focus long enough to complete such a task. At last, I can be with myself, in this body. So, I’ve written a book about my story.”

“It's out next June, and I'm so excited to share its cover with you now,” he continued. “At many points in my life, it felt unbearable to be in front of a camera, but making this cover with acclaimed photographer Catherine Opie was a joyful experience that I will never forget.”

“Trans people are facing increasing attacks, from physical violence to the banning of healthcare, and our humanity is regularly ‘debated’ in the media,” he added. “The act of writing, reading, and sharing the multitude of our experiences is an important step in standing up to those who wish to silence and harm us. Books have helped me, saved me even, so I hope this can help someone feel less alone, feel seen, no matter who they are or what path they are on.”

Page has quite the story to tell. He started acting in Canada at age 10, and by 20, he was starring in movies like Hard Candy and Juno, the latter of which earned him an Academy Award nomination.

He continued starting in big projects, including X-Men movies where he was the object of homophobic bullying by director Brett Ratner.

In 2014, he came out as gay, being one of the biggest Hollywood stars to do so.

In December of 2020, Page came out again, this time as trans, revealing his name to be Elliot. A few months later, Page became the first trans man to be on the cover of Time.

Page has been an inspiration for and influence on a whole generation of queer actors and fans. His book, Pageboy, will be in bookstores and available online on June 6, 2023. You can preorder it at ElliotPageBook.com.
