Elliot Page Shares Trans Joy While Unboxing His Memoir 'Pageboy'

Elliot Page has been exuding trans joy lately, and we couldn’t be happier to see it!
After coming out as trans in 2020, the Umbrella Academy star has taken fans on an amazing journey of self-discovery and transformation. Through social media, Page has been sharing watershed moments in his trans experience, including a new passport photo, pics of him beaming while wearing a tuxedo alongside Mae Martin, and a shirtless photo of himself enjoying the sun.
In his latest Instagram post, the actor is rendered almost speechless in a video where he unboxes the first copies of his upcoming memoir saying only, “I have the first box of Pageboy, the physical book, here we go. Wow. It’s real. Can’t wait for you to read it.”
Below the video, fans shared Page’s excitement, including RuPaul’s Drag Race queen Sasha Velour, who wrote: “Can’t wait for a copy.”
One fan shared how Page being so open about their story has helped them along their own trans journey, writing, “I cant wait to read it. you probably get this all the time but I grew up feeling such a connection to you. when you came out it was right after I came out. and when you began to transition, it was right after I did the same thing. Thank you so much for sharing your story and showing trans artists like myself that we can achieve our dreams.” Tommy Dorfman also commented, “Need a copy.”
The publisher described the memoir as candidly exploring the Academy Award nominee's “relationship with his body, his experiences as one of the most famous trans people in the world and… his mental health, assault, love, relationships, sex and the cesspool that Hollywood can be.”
In December 2022, Page took to Instagram to open up about why he had never jumped on the opportunity to write a book until now. “Writing a book has come up a few times over the years, but it never felt right and quite frankly, it didn’t feel possible,” Page wrote. “I could barely sit still, let alone focus long enough to complete such a task. At last, I can be with myself, in this body. So, I’ve written a book about my story.”
In the post he talked about how for a long time it felt “unbearable” to be in front of the camera, but that posing for the photo for his book cover was a “joyful experience I will never forget.”
Page also felt with the onslaught of anti-trans attacks and legislation, sharing experience was vitally important. “Trans people are facing increasing attacks, from physical violence to the banning of healthcare, and our humanity is regularly "debated" in the media,” he wrote. “The act of writing, reading, and sharing the multitude of our experiences is an important step in standing up to those who wish to silence and harm us. Books have helped me, saved me even, so I hope this can help someone feel less alone, feel seen, no matter who they are or what path they are on.”
