ELLWOOD CITY — Council approved different borough appointments on Monday.

Frank Lordi Jr. was appointed as a zoning hearing board alternate for a three-year-term; Sherri Greco to a four-year-term on the planning commission; Brad Ovial and Caleb Cragle to the board of health, with Ovial’s term to expire on Dec. 31, 2023, and Cragle’s term to expire Dec. 31, 2025; and Sherri Greco and Ralph Chiappetta for six-year terms as civil service commission alternates.

The board approved a liquor license transfer to the El Canelo restaurant at 1226 Lawrence Ave., agreed to upfit the new police canine vehicle for $15,953, and to purchase a 2022 Ford F250, for the public works department, for $41,445.

Borough Manager David Allen said the latter was the second of two vehicles that would be paid for using the borough’s 2017 bond issue.

Council agreed to new contracts, to expire Dec. 31, 2025, with both the clerical and laborers that work for the borough.

Borough Solicitor Edward Leymarie Jr. said the wages for both groups will gradually increase over the four-year period, with a 3% increase in 2022, a 2% increase in 2023, a 3% increase in 2024, and a 2% increase in 2025.

Residents can drop off live Christmas trees, with the decorations removed, at Stiefel Park through Jan. 31.
