Elmouchi named new Corewell chief operating officer

Dr. Darryl Elmouchi will be Corewell Health's new chief operating officer, effective May 1, the health care system announced Tuesday.

Elmouchi has served as president of Corewell Health West, which oversees the system's west Michigan based health care operations, since 2020. He has been with the organization since 2006 as a practicing cardiac electrophysiologist, according to a news release.

Corewell Health is the newer name of the merged Beaumont Health Spectrum Health hospital system, which was formerly known as the BHSH system.

Elmouchi said the health system's professionals across the state "are focused on helping our patients live the healthiest lives they can. This past year has shown us how much our doctors, nurses and team members have in common. We have an exciting opportunity to bring together our strengths and talents to make them even more accessible to all our patients.”

Corewell Health President & CEO Tina Freese Decker said Elmouchi will work with the regional leaders within the health system.

The health system said Dr. Alejandro Quiroga will be the new president of Corewell Health West, succeeding Elmouchi, effective May 1. Quiroga served as the chief medical officer and head of ambulatory care and population health programs for Corewell Health in west Michigan.
