Elon Town Council rededicates municipal building honoring former mayor Jerry Tolley

ELON — The Town Council will rededicate the Town Hall municipal building to honor former mayor, Jerry Tolley, according to a release from Elon. The rededication will take place on Monday, June 27, at 5:30 P.M.

He is being honored by the Town Council for his service to Elon as an elected official. Prior to serving as mayor, Tolley also served as alderman from 1983-1989, dedicating over 30 years of his life to serving the town of Elon.

Upon his retirement in December 2021, he received for the second time the Order of the Long Leaf Pine award, presented by State Sen. Amy Galey, one of the most prestigious awards given by the governor of North Carolina for those who show exemplary service.

There will be a brief ceremony conducted on the front steps at Town Hall, 104 S. Williamson Ave., Monday evening.
