Emergency Crews Work Into the Night to Locate Person Missing in Madrid Explosion

Emergency response crews maintained search and rescue efforts after an explosion in Madrid, Spain, late on Wednesday, January 20, as officials confirmed at least three people had died in the blast.

Spain’s Interior Ministry said one person remained missing and at least seven were injured following the explosion.

At least four floors of a building were destroyed in the blast. Local news reports said the explosion was believed to have been caused by a gas leak and investigations were underway.
