Emergent Health Partners offers paid emergency medical technician training academy

There are 18 positions open in Emergent Health Partners’ second emergency medical technician academy, which is scheduled to begin May 15 and conclude Aug. 14.

These are paid positions, much like an apprenticeship, where recruits are compensated for 40-hour work weeks while they complete the Michigan-approved EMT curriculum and licensing process, a news release from Emergent Health Partners said.

Emergent Health Partners is the parent company of Lenawee Community Ambulance and Monroe Community Ambulance.

EMT training develops patient assessment and basic life support skills including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, automated external defibrillator training, airway management, wound care, stabilization of fractures, rescue and extrication, and environmental emergencies. It also prepares the graduate to navigate medical-legal issues and prepare accurate patient care records.

Courses are held in person from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at Huron Valley Ambulance’s Center for EMS Education at 1200 State Circle in Ann Arbor, according to the academy's website. The program includes online work to be completed at home.

The EMT Academy application deadline is March 24.

Upon completion, the EMT Academy graduates are assigned to work full time in Emergent Health Partners' Huron Valley Ambulance, Monroe Community Ambulance, Jackson Community Ambulance and Lenawee Community Ambulance service areas and receive a full benefit package including health care, dental insurance, holiday pay and paid time off.

Emergent Health Partners’ first EMT Academy concluded Dec. 4, 2022, and all recruits who completed the original 12-week program are now deployed across its service region. Emergent Health Partners is also planning additional EMT Academies.
