The real Slim Shady wants Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy to please sit down.

For those who’ve been lucky enough to have missed it, Ramaswamy, who is currently running for the GOP nomination, has been rapping Eminem’s hit song “Lose Yourself” on the campaign trail.

The cringe of it all!

But if common sense and an ounce of shame weren’t enough to put a stop to the stump trail rapping, it seems that legal efforts may win the day. BMI, the licensing team behind Eminem’s hit song, has reportedly sent the Republican politician’s team a cease-and-desist following Ramaswamy’s “performance” at the Iowa State Fair.

If you must see it... proceed with caution.

According to The New York Times, the order states that “BMI will consider any performance of the Eminem works by the Vivek 2024 campaign from this date forward to be a material breach” of licensing rules, “for which BMI reserves all rights and remedies with respect thereto.”

In response, Ramaswamy spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said, “Vivek just got on the stage and cut loose.” She added that “to the American people’s chagrin, we will have to leave the rapping to the real Slim Shady.”

Oh, there’s chagrin alright, but not because of Ramaswamy’s rapping “skills”. No, that’s just unbearable secondhand embarrassment. We’ll save our chagrin for the politician’s climate change denial, homophobia, and transphobia.

The rapping is painful, but Ramaswamy’s beliefs, ideas, and rhetoric are far, far worse.
