Eminem to play Richard Wershe, aka White Boy Rick, in 50 Cent's new drama

May we have your attention, please? The "Real Slim Shady," aka rapper Eminem, is back in the acting game.

The upcoming Starz series "BMF," inspired by two real-life brothers from Detroit who were powerful figures in drug trafficking, will feature Motor City's very own as a guest star.

Eminem will make a brief appearance on the show as Richard Wershe Jr., the former teenage drug dealer from Detroit nicknamed White Boy Rick, according to The Wrap. "I'm honored and appreciative of my good friend Em for supporting my new show 'BMF.' We couldn't do a show in Detroit without incorporating the legend that is Eminem," 50 Cent, a "BMF" executive producer, said in a statement to the publication.

50 Cent also confirmed the news on Instagram, writing: "Oh yeah i'm bringing the big dogs out … Got him to play white Boy Rick in BMF, this (expletive) is out here."

"BMF," which stands for Black Mafia Family, is a dramatized version of the exploits of Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory and Terry "Southwest T" Flenory, brothers from southwest Detroit who were major players in a huge multi-state drug trafficking ring.

The series premieres on Sept. 26.

Demetrius "Lil Meech" Flenory will portray his father in the series. Snoop Dogg will have a recurring role as the Flenory family's spiritual adviser.

Eminem will portray Wershe, who was recruited at 14 to be an FBI informant and sentenced at 18 to life in prison for a drug crime. Better known as White Boy Rick in the widespread media coverage of his 1987 conviction, Wershe was freed from prison in July 2020.

50 Cent tweeted Tuesday that he directed the episode Eminem will guest star in and used the same digital effects that made Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci look decades younger for Martin Scorsese's 2019 film about Jimmy Hoffa, "The Irishman."

The effects will "take @eminem back to his teenage years. BOOM," he wrote.

Wershe has become an iconic character in the hip-hop world, despite his limited role in the gang. He was the subject of the 2017 documentary “White Boy,” which is currently streaming on Netflix. A scripted film, “White Boy Rick,” was released in 2018.

Eminem has previously expressed interest in playing Wershe. Writer Scott Burnstein, producer of the "White Boy" documentary and a consultant for "White Boy Rick," told the Detroit Free Press, part of the USA TODAY Network, in 2018 that Eminem considered playing Wershe in the mid-2000s in what would have been a follow-up to his 2002 hit "8 Mile."

Starz describes "BMF," which is set in the 1980s, as "a story about love, kinship and capitalism in the pursuit of the American dream."
