Emma Dretke scores her 1,000th career point for Jackson but Polar Bears fall to undefeated Hoover

GIRLS BASKETBALL
HOOVER 52, JACKSON 49 Emma Dretke scored her 1,000th career point for Jackson in the fourth quarter but the Polar Bears lost at Hoover. Dretke scored 18 points, giving her 1,003 total points in her career.
Angela Roshak scored 15 points to lead the Vikings (5-0, 2-0 Federal League). Hoover outscored Jackson 21-18 in the fourth quarter to earn the win.
Grace Craig added 13 points for the Vikings while Janet Eriksen contributed 10 points.
Megan Campbell scored 13 points for Jackson. Lauren Pallotta also scored 12 points for the Polar Bears.
GLENOAK 72, PERRY 53 GlenOak jumped out to a 21-8 lead after the first quarter and never looked back as the Golden Eagles won at home.
Breezie Williams had a game-high 20 points for GlenOak. Kiley Dyrlund chipped in 17 points for the Golden Eagles.
Mia Guscoff led Perry with 12 points.
LOUISVILLE 43, DOVER 26 Louisville outscored Dover 24-7 in the second half to help the visiting Leopards pull away and improve to 4-1.
Brooke Haren led the Leopards with 15 points. Tori Jones had 15 points to lead Dover.
WEST BRANCH 49, CARROLLTON 45 Sophie Gregory had 18 points and 11 rebounds as West Branch (4-1, 2-0) won its third straight game with an EBC home win.
Anna Lippiatt added 12 points for West Branch.
Sophia Glass was the leading scorer for Carrollton. Lauren Marmo also had 12 points for Carrollton.

ALLIANCE 59, AKRON SPRINGFIELD 53 Jayla Callock had 28 points, 11 rebounds and four steals for Alliance to lead the Aviators to a win. Marzae Gantz also had 13 points for Alliance. The Aviators are now 2-3 on the season.
NORTHWEST 32, TUSLAW 28 Ashley Cudnik scored 12 points for Northwest as it won at home to improve to 5-0 on the season.
Abby Hoiles scored 14 points for Tuslaw.
FAIRLESS 52, MANCHESTER 34 Grace Lyon scored 25 points for Fairless as the Falcons (3-0) won their PAC-7 opener.
Emma Stamperd led Manchester with 17 points. The Panthers fell behind 33-14 by halftime and could not recover.
LAKE CENTER CHRISTIAN 53, VALLEY CHRISTIAN 29 Natasha Lyogky had a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers, who won on the road.
Natalie Clark was the leading scorer for Lake Center with 17 points and Emma Fulk added 12 points.
Savannah Kitchen had 15 points to lead Valley Christian.
SHADYSIDE 51, MALVERN 50 Shadyside outscored Malvern 15-12 in the fourth quarter as the Hornets lost on the road. Maddie Powers led Malvern with 26 points and nine rebounds. Lanie Bower added 15 points for the Hornets.
Gentry Brown and Paige Gorby scored 18 points each to lead the Tigers.
TUSKY VALLEY 51, HARRISON CENTRAL 16 Ashley Merrick had 19 points, six rebounds and six assists, as the Trojans won on the road. Kandence Stutz added 12 points, four rebounds and four assists for Tusky Valley.
McKayla Dunkle had 10 points to lead Harrison Central. Harrison Central was held to eight points or less in each quarter and was held scoreless in the fourth quarter.
BOYS BASKETBALL
EAST CANTON 45, CONOTTON VALLEY 32 East Canton overcame a 10-2 first-quarter deficit to beat visiting Conotton Valley. The Hornets outscored the Rockets 28-12 in the second half to seize command.
Alec Penroad led East Canton with 11 points.
WEST BRANCH 61, ACAD. OF URBAN SCHOLARS 51 Jaxon Hendershott and Dru DeShields scored 15 points each as West Branch won its opener at home. Jaxon Robb also had 13 points for West Branch.
CARROLLTON 57, SHENANDOAH 37 Darick Miller had 22 points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots as Carrollton won on the road. Brock Smith added 11 points, six assists and five steals for Carrollton.
Carrollton jumped out to a 16-8 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.
MANCHESTER 58, REVERE 52 Daniel Sensius scored 20 points to lead Manchester (2-1), while Ben Noirot added 13 points and Kenton Duty scored 12.
MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL
MALONE 82, LAKE ERIE 80 OT Bryce Butler made a free throw with four seconds remaining in overtime to help Malone seal a win on the road in the G-MAC opener for the Pioneers. Malone (5-2) has won five in a row.
Butler had 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists for Malone. Bo Myers led the PIoneers with 19 points. Justin Miller added 17 points and five rebounds. Marcus Ernst chipped in 14 points. Levi Seller also had 10 points.
Jonny Manning made a layup as time expired in regulation for Lake Erie to send the game to overtime. Manning had 12 points for the Storm.
The Storm trailed by as many as nine points in overtime. Jackson Burdyshaw made a 3-pointer with 16 seconds left in regulation to pull Lake Erie to within one point but the Storm got no closer.
Jordan Burton led Lake Erie with 19 points and six assists.
WALSH 102, ROBERTS WESLEYAN 63 Caleb Canter scored a career-high 21 points as Walsh easily won this non-league matchup.
The Cavaliers raced out to a 50-29 halftime lead and built on their advantage in the second half. All 13 Walsh players who played scored.
Darryl Straughter scored nine points and moved into fifth place on the Cavs’ career scoring list. He has 1,774 points and is just four points shy of fourth.
Owen Hazelbaker and Quinton Toles scored 13 points apiece for the Cavs (3-2), who have won two in a row. Milan Square added 10 points and nine rebounds.
HEIDELBERG 91, MOUNT UNION 72 Dylan Woods scored 24 points to lead Heidelberg past Mount Union in the Purple Raiders’ Ohio Athletic Conference opener.
The Student Princes broke open the game with an 18-8 run that gave them a 72-58 lead with 7:16 left. Mount Union was only able to get as close as 10.
Christian Parker finished with a career-high 25 points for the Purple Raiders (5-1, 0-1). Chris Painter Jr. scored a season-high 17 points.
Mount Union assistant Josh Twiddy ran the team for head coach Mike Fuline, who was out because of COVID-19 protocols.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
MALONE 72, LAKE ERIE 64 The Pioneers outscored the Storm 43-28 in the second half and won the G-MAC opener.
Robin Campbell scored 19 points to lead Malone, which 53.2% from the field. Holly Groff finished with 18 points and three steals. Alexis Hutchison scored 16 points and also had three steals. Emma Kallas finished with 12 points.
The Pioneers (5-1, 1-0) have won two in a row.
MOUNT UNION 74, HEIDELBERG 44 The Purple Raiders built a 38-22 halftime lead and easily won their Ohio Athletic Conference opener.
Emma Cannon and Keslie Glass scored 14 points apiece to lead Mount Union (2-2, 1-0 OAC). Isi Palamone added a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Purple Raiders held the Student Princes to just 26.5% shooting.
