Emmerdale airs another shock split as Liam's secret is revealed
Emmerdale aired another shock split tonight (July 19), as viewers finally discovered what Liam Cavanagh had been hiding.
The show has spent weeks teasing a potential dark side to Liam (Jonny McPherson), leaving his partner Bernice Blackstock terrified that he could be a serial killer.
Tonight's scenes saw the situation come to a head, as Bernice (Samantha Giles) became consumed by paranoia that Liam was planning to bump her off.
Following the strange discovery of a bloodied shirt and scalpel in Liam's briefcase, Bernice spotted even more clues which appeared to suggest that he's up to no good.
Bernice's suspicions were raised even further when Liam took her out for a mysterious trip to the woods in his car, unaware that Nicola and her husband Jimmy were in hot pursuit to rescue her.
Bernice screamed for her life and begged Liam not to kill her, shortly before Jimmy knocked him unconscious by lobbing a chunk of cheese at his head.
However, Liam later revealed that the reason for his mysterious behaviour was because he's a murder mystery party enthusiast, much to the amusement of Nicola.
Later on, Liam found himself struggling to forgive Bernice for thinking he was a serial killer, leaving their relationship on the rocks.
Emmerdale currently airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
