Emmerdale's producer Laura Shaw has addressed recent discussion over whether Robert Sugden could make a return to the village.

Fans have been reminiscing over the 'Robron' era following the surprise return of Danny Miller as Aaron Dingle earlier this month.

Aaron has moved back to the village after two years and he's currently single after splitting from Marco, the guy he was in a relationship with in Italy.

Speaking to Inside Soap, Shaw hinted that a return for Robert isn't entirely in her hands as Ryan Hawley, who played him, left the show of his own accord in 2019.

Shaw commented: "I love Robron – so I would reunite them if I could!

"But as far as romance for Aaron goes, losing Liv has taught him that, if you don't love someone, you can't get hurt, so that's what's in his head when he comes back.

"Obviously we all love Aaron in a relationship, so some time in the future, I'm sure we'll go there. However, at the moment what we'll see is that Aaron doesn't want to get hurt again.

"He can't cope with the hurt he felt from Liv dying, so he's just pushing people away. It's going to take some time for him to get over that."

Danny Miller recently revealed that he still gets messages "every day" about 'Robron' and "would love" to work with Ryan Hawley again.

He admitted that he wanted to "talk round" Ryan over a possible comeback.

For now, Danny has ruled out romance-based stories for Aaron or the possibility of him starting a family.

Danny recently told TV Times: "I think he's so far away from being a father any time soon, or a husband.

"He needs to learn to love himself before he can let anyone else love him – that old cliché is so true when it comes to Aaron."
