Emmerdale star Daisy Campbell has confirmed she's sticking around as Amelia Spencer.

Campbell joined the soap over a decade ago, being cast as Amelia when she was just 7 years old.

Speaking to The Sun, the actress revealed she's signed a new contract with the soap for another year. "I’d love to stay on it for as long as I can," Campbell said.

"I recently signed for another year and couldn’t be happier. But I never take it for granted because you never know when they might kill you off. It can happen to anyone."

In recent months, fans have seen Amelia welcome baby Esther after becoming pregnant at 15. Esther was born during the soap's hour-long 50th anniversary episode in October.

Dramatic scenes saw Amelia caught up in the huge windstorm that engulfed the village as she went into labour.

Speaking about the storyline, Campbell said: "When I was first told Amelia was having a baby, I couldn’t believe it because it was a storyline I’d always wanted for my character.

"And then for it to be part of the 50th... I felt really honoured. I was in the show for the big 40th when we did the live episode, but I was only 9. Still being in the show ten years later is just amazing."

Recently, fans have seen Amelia faced with a big decision as she considers quitting college because of the difficulties she's facing finding care for Esther.

The soap has also confirmed that Esther's father Samson Dingle will soon be exposed for trying to extort money from his cousin (and Amelia's boyfriend) Noah.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
