Chloe Harris actress Jessie Elland has discussed her character's act of vengeance against Charity Dingle and Mackenzie Boyd.

In next week's episodes, a distraught Chloe plots to drive Mack and Charity into the middle of the countryside to abandon them, having overheard the pair talking about their fling.

Control is stolen away from her, though, when another car smashes into them, leaving their vehicle hanging over a cliff edge.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other media at an Emmerdale press event, Elland shared: "She's not a malicious person - she's just really devastated by what she overheard when she found out. She needed to have some kind of reaction, in some way, to get revenge.

"I don't think that revenge comes from a place of malice. I don't think she's thinking about the revenge at all once she's dangling off the cliff!"

Despite the threesome staring death in the face, this twist offered the soap star a welcome chance to work more with Charity actress Emma Atkins and Lawrence Robb, who plays Mack.

"I was excited to do a stunt because I hadn't done one before," she said.

"To find out that we were doing it as the three of us together was a really special treat, like the cherry on top of the cake. So that was nice. Because the storyline has been playing out for so long, it's nice that it's building to this peak.

"It's such a juicy storyline but there's no distinct right or distinct wrong from any of them, it's been this grey area, which is more interesting as a viewer."

Meanwhile, Atkins herself praised Matt Hilton's "stylised" directing of the drama, before adding: "With [Charity and Mack] having no idea what's going on, it's more exciting for the audience. At every level of play, they're unaware Chloe has overheard they slept together. The jeopardy is even more intense."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
