Emmerdale star Jurell Carter has spoken about his character Nate Robinson's big decision to tie the knot with Tracy Metcalfe.

The show's latest episode revealed that Nate and Tracy had secretly reunited and made plans for a low-key wedding ceremony at Hotten Town Hall.

Sadly, the romantic plan was scuppered when Nate's father Cain Dingle wrongly assumed that he was trying to ruin Tracy's wedding day. Oblivious to the fact that he was targeting the groom, Cain kidnapped Nate and accidentally knocked him unconscious.

Nate missed his and Tracy's booked wedding slot following the chaos, but a mortified Cain made amends by arranging for vicar Charles Anderson to host an unofficial wedding at the local village church.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other press about the twist, Jurell explained: "It's really nice having Amy Walsh back as Tracy and having a familiar face around again. Seeing Nate and Tracy back together and having that spark, it's been really fun to play.

"I'd like them to have their happily-ever-after, but at the same time, it's soap, so nothing goes smoothly. We would love the fairytale wedding and fairytale relationship.

"But at the same time, even in normal relationships, you go through ups and downs. Who knows? We may go through a smooth sailing relationship or maybe not.

"I think they're a good match because they come from a similar background and they've not had a stable upbringing. Obviously Tracy's long-lost dad wasn't in her life, and then Nate didn't have a biological father in his life.

"I think they come from similar troubles and they can relate to each other. They've got a fierceness about each other and they're very family-orientated as well."

Jurell added that Nate is better suited to Tracy than his other recent love interests, Chloe Harris and Naomi Walters.

He said: "I don't think Nate has met his match on every aspect in other relationships, whereas I think Tracy is on a similar path and a similar wavelength. He finds that extremely attractive – finding someone who's his match.

"Obviously, Nate had a thing with Chloe. I feel like that was just a sexual thing, rather than any kind of romance or anything like that.

"He then met Naomi. They got on, but work commitments and not being on the same page got in the way. He's finally met his match with Tracy."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
