Emmerdale actor Liam Fox was touched after a tribute from his co-star as his final scenes were aired.

Fox left the role of Dan Spencer after his character was sentenced to eight years in prison in last night's episode, after killing his daughter's cyberstalker.

In a video posted to the soap's official Twitter account, Daisy Campbell, who plays Dan's daughter, Amelia, paid tribute to her on-screen dad, who she has been working with since she was eight years old.

Speaking about Fox, she said: "He has always kept me grounded, 'Do not get big-headed,' which I always keep in mind.

"You have literally taught me everything that I need to know. I've written this in your leaving card but I'm always going to stick with the things you've taught me, as well as what Kelli [Hollis] taught me - just stay grounded and treat everyone nicely."

Campbell told Fox: "I can't believe this is the final goodbye after 12 years of working together but I'll definitely see you soon again."

Reacting to Campbell's message, Fox said: "That makes me a bit emotional. I wouldn't have stuck out 12 years on the show if it hadn't been for the family that I was put with to start with."

Fox praised Campbell as well as Kelli Hollis, who played Dan's ex-wife Ali, and Alicya Eyo, who played Ali's partner Ruby Haswell.

"Very excited about moving on," Fox added. "You just miss the people you're going to film with, like Daisy because she's family."

Last month, Fox was announced for a pantomime version of Aladdin at St Helens' Theatre Royal beginning on December 2.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
