Emmerdale's Tom King receives two major death shocks

Emmerdale's Tom King will get two huge shocks next week, as his conflict with his uncle Jimmy continues.
Tom recently returned to the village after a 10-year absence (with the character now played by actor James Chase), leaving Jimmy questioning why his nephew is back in the Dales after so long.
Tom is now starting to put down some roots in the village, having rekindled his romance with Belle Dingle and secured a new job at the vets surgery, but his relationship with Jimmy is still under strain.

Next week, Belle decides to plot a way to get Tom and Jimmy together and fix the awkward atmosphere between them.
Things seem to be going well for the pair as they chat, until Jimmy accidentally reveals that Tom's late dad, Carl, killed his and Jimmy's father, also named Tom.
Tom is devastated to discover the horrible truth about his dark family history and he leaves in a rush, unable to deal with the information.

Turning to Belle for comfort, Tom struggles to process the news that his dad murdered his grandad. While Belle consoles him, she begins to worry about how Tom might react to her own dark past.
Although she feels daunted by the idea, Belle decides that being open with Tom is the right thing to do, and so she confesses to him that she accidentally killed their former friend, Gemma, back in 2014.
The news is a lot for Tom to take in and he makes a quick exit, leaving Belle worried that telling him the truth has ruined their relationship for good.

In the Woolpack, Tom is feeling on edge after Belle's confession to him. When Jimmy spots him and approaches to defend Carl again, Tom can't handle it and he squares up to Jimmy, as their argument continues to escalate.
Jimmy's wife Nicola later tells him that he has done the right thing in cutting Tom out of his life, as his anguish over his nephew is starting to affect the rest of his family. Nicola reminds him that he needs to focus on them, but will Jimmy be able to turn his back on Tom?

Jimmy will be facing more family heartbreak next week too, as Nicola is involved in a car crash with their daughter, Angel.
Actor James Chase, who plays Tom, has spoken about the changes to his character since he was last seen in 2013, revealing that Tom is on "a new path to be the best man he can be and just to be there for the people that he loves".
He added that he wants Tom to be able to find "closure" after all the drama of the past, calling him "a new man now".
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
