Don’t call Iowa a flyover state. Celebrities, politicians and TV personalities flocked to the state for the Caucus on Jan. 15.
Cities across Iowa have welcomed visitors from red carpet royalty to D-list. Here are some of the names you might recognize who have appeared in Iowa this month.

Laura Ingraham
Fox News host Laura Ingraham was in Des Moines on Jan. 15 for live coverage of the Iowa Caucuses for the network.
Matt Gaetz
Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Florida, was in Iowa supporting former President Donald Trump on Jan. 15, MSNBC reported. Gaetz asked a Des Moines crowd in 2021 to caucus for Trump before Trump’s official campaign announcement.
Jim Jordan
Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, was just one of several Trump supporters in Iowa on Jan. 15, according to MSNBC. All Iowa representatives had backed Jordan to become the new House speaker last October, though he did not receive enough support for the position.

Kari Lake
Former news anchor Kari Lake joined Gaetz, Jordan and Donalds in Iowa on Jan. 15 for Trump, according to MSNBC. Lake is running for the U.S. Senate in Arizona.
Tina Smith
Sen. Tina Smith of Minnesota was in Des Moines on Jan. 15 in support of President Joe Biden at the Iowa Events Center. She was joined by film producer Jeffrey Katzenberg and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, according to the New York Times.
J.B. Pritzker
Gov. J.B. Pritzker of Illinois was in Des Moines Jan. 15. Pritzker made headlines Sunday for telling ABC News “This Week” that Biden’s poll numbers will improve after an ABC News/Ipsos survey showed the president’s approval rating at 33%, ABC News reported.
Jeffrey Katzenberg
Jeffrey Katzenberg is a cofounder of DreamWorks Animation and film producer. He is the co-chair of Biden’s campaign, according to the New York Times, who was in Des Moines on Jan. 15 with Smith and Pritzker.
Jeanette Nuñez
Florida Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez was in Iowa door knocking in support of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis during the weekend before Caucus Day.
Glenn Jacobs (Kane)
WWE superstar and hall of famer Glenn Jacobs, also known as Kane, came to Iowa on Jan. 13 to support Trump. Glenn is the mayor of Knox County in Tennessee.
Frank Luntz
Political and communications consultant and pollster Frank Luntz appeared at several events ahead of Caucus Day in Iowa.
Lawrence Jones
“Fox & Friends” co-host Lawrence Jones was in Cedar Rapids on Jan. 15 and appeared in Ankeny on Jan. 16 after arriving in Iowa over weekend.

Kristen Welker
Kristen Welker is moderator of NBC’s Sunday morning program “Meet the Press.” Welker previously co-anchored “Weekend Today” and was NBC News chief White House correspondent. She was in Des Moines Jan. 14 for a special edition of “Meet the Press” airing live from the city at West End Architectural Salvage. On Friday night, she dined at 801 Chophouse.
Chuck Todd
Former “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd is the NBC News chief political analyst. He joined Welker on set in Des Moines for “Meet the Press” on Jan. 14.
Hallie Jackson
NBC News Senior Washington Correspondent Hallie Jackson reported from Iowa live on Jan. 15, Caucus day.
Isabel Brown
Conservative content creator and author Isabel Brown showed her support of Vivek Ramaswamy by joining him in Iowa on Jan. 12.
Candace Owens
Conservative political commentator Candace Owens was in Iowa to campaign for GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. Owens joined Ramaswamy in a live podcast with podcaster Tim Pool in Des Moines on Jan. 10. Owens, who hosts a show on conservative media company the Daily Wire, continued to join Ramaswamy for several other stops in Iowa on Jan. 11, including in Davenport and Dubuque.
Donald Trump Jr.
Donald Trump Jr. was in Urbandale campaigning on behalf of his father on Jan. 11 at the Machine Shed Restaurant, 11151 Hickman Road. Trump’s eldest son previously campaigned for his father in Des Moines during the 2020 presidential election cycle.
Jake Tapper
The CNN anchor was in Des Moines to co-moderate the CNN Republican Presidential Primary debate on Jan. 10 at Drake University. He and fellow moderator Dana Bash spoke to Axios Des Moines about their previous experiences in Iowa. Tapper recalled dining at Des Moines restaurants 801 Chophouse and Centro.
Dana Bash
Dana Bash, CNN’s chief political correspondent and anchor, joined Tapper to moderate the CNN Republican Presidential Primary debate on Jan. 10 at Drake University. She told Axios Des Moines that she’d visit Raygun if buying a gift from Des Moines for a friend.
Martha MacCallum
Martha MacCallum, the anchor and executive editor of “The Story with Martha MacCallum,” moderated a Fox News town hall with Trump on Jan. 10 at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. This was the third town hall at the Iowa Events Center since Jan. 8, with former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis appearing for town halls earlier in the week. She spoke to the Des Moines Register about her role as a moderator with Fox News anchor Bret Baier.
Bret Baier
Chief political anchor with Fox News Bret Baier co-moderated the Fox News town halls in Des Moines with MacCallum. He and MacCallum co-moderated the Republican Presidential Primary debate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, last year.
Roseanne Barr
Comedian and actress Roseanne Barr was scheduled to appear in Boone on Jan. 9 to speak at a Team Trump Iowa Rally but withdrew from the event, the New York Times reported on Jan. 8. Barr’s self-titled TV sitcom ran for 10 seasons and won several Emmy Awards in the process. In the reboot of the show — later canceled due to Barr’s controversial and racist tweet directed at a former President Barack Obama adviser — the titular character was revealed to have voted for Trump. In real life, Barr has been vocal of her support of Trump. Barr released a comedy special on Fox Nation last year titled, “Roseanne Barr: Cancel This!”
Eric Trump
Trump’s son visited Ankeny on Jan. 4 as part of a Team Trump MAGA event at the FFA Enrichment Center. According to NBC News, Eric Trump called his father while campaigning in Ankeny and put him on speakerphone to address the crowd.
Matthew Whitaker
Former acting U.S. attorney general Matthew Whitaker is a University of Iowa alumnus. Whitaker campaigned for Team Trump Iowa Rally in Boone on Jan. 9. The Ankeny native served as U.S. attorney in Iowa and then joined the U.S. Justice Department. While a student at UI, Whitaker played tight end for the Hawkeyes from 1988 to 1992.
Ben Carson
The retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson ran to be the Republican Party’s 2016 presidential nominee. He is also a former U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Carson was in Davenport on Jan. 10 and then Marion on Jan. 11 supporting Trump.
Kristi Noem
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem visited Sioux City to support Trump on Jan. 3. Trump said that Noem is one of the people he’d consider as a running mate in an interview with NBC in September. Noem made history as South Dakota’s first female governor when she took office in 2019.
Marjorie Taylor Greene
Also supporting Trump on Jan. 4 was Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga. Greene was in Keokuk at event center The Hidden Tower. In an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in August, Greene shared she’d consider being Trump’s running mate. On Jan. 14, she dined at Bubba.
