Emmys 2020: All the major nominees

The Emmy field is wide open for 2020.

With perennial awards magnets "Game of Thrones" and "Veep" and big 2019 honoree "Fleabag" now retired, Tuesday's nominations will lead to new winners in the series, acting and other major categories.

Last year, "Thrones" and "Fleabag" won best drama and comedy series, respectively, while Phoebe Waller-Bridge of "Fleabag" won for lead actress in a comedy (and for writing). Peter Dinklage of "Thrones" capped his commanding performance as Tyrion Lannister with a best supporting actor statuette.

Plenty of shows and their stars are primed to enter the winners circle when Jimmy Kimmel hosts the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards – in either traditional or virtual form – on Sept. 20. Here are the nominees in the major categories:
